In November 2010 the NZTA released its indicative route for the Puhoi–Warkworth stretch of the proposed Puhoi-Wellsford Motorway. Feedback on Phase 1 of the consultation process was outlined in NZTA newsletter Issue No. 4:

NZTA Motorway Public Information Day – Thursday 25th November – Puhoi Sports Club 3.30-7.30pm

Indicative route announced for Puhoi to Warkworth

The NZTA have released an  initial route plan for the Puhoi-Wellsford motorway  this week, as well as their November Newsletter. To quote:
“In the previous round of consultation we sought feedback on

NZTA Newsletter summarising feedback received during consultation

NZTA has now released a summary of the feedback received during the first phase of consultation on its Puhoi-Wellsford Highway proposal. 600 submissions were received during this process and NZTA’s summary indicates that the majority of submissions received centred around the need for an access point being available in the Puhoi/Mahurangi West area. NZTA and Minister of Transport still open to Puhoi access

Today’s Herald article on motorway access “Holiday highway’ access has historic town revolting” by Andrew Stone seems to suggest that the NZTA and Minister of Transport Steven Joyce have not closed off the option of retaining motorway access at Puhoi. The NZTA’s Tommy Parker is quoted as saying that:
